BILL NUMBER: AB 2248 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Melendez FEBRUARY 21, 2014 An act relating to probation. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2248, as introduced, Melendez. Probation: statewide database. Existing law requires the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to be the primary agency responsible for the Law Enforcement Automated Data System, a database that provides information to local law enforcement agencies regarding an inmate on parole or postrelease community supervision. This bill would state that it is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to create a statewide database comprised of individuals on probation. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would create a statewide database comprised of individuals on probation.
