Assembly Bill
No. 2091

Introduced by Assembly Member Brough

February 05, 2020

An act to add Section 5156.8 to the Vehicle Code, relating to vehicles.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 2091, as introduced, Brough. Vehicles: 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics specialized license plate program.
Existing law permits state agencies to apply to the Department of Motor Vehicles to sponsor a specialized license plate program. Existing law establishes fees to be paid for the issuance, renewal, or transfer of the specialized license plate. Existing law requires that the department deposit revenue, after the deduction of administrative costs, in the Specialized License Plate Fund. Moneys in the fund are allocated to each sponsoring agency in proportion to the amount in the fund attributable to the agency’s specialized license plate program.
This bill would direct the department to sponsor a specialized license plate for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. This bill would require revenue, after the deduction of administrative costs, be used to increase the number of field offices that provide services to the public on Saturdays or Sundays.
Vote: MAJORITY   Appropriation: NO   Fiscal Committee: YES   Local Program: NO

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
