An act to amend Section 35704 of the Education Code, relating to school districts.

AB 1581, as introduced, Gabriel. School districts: reorganization.
Existing law prescribes the procedure to reorganize school districts, including the filing of a petition with the county superintendent of schools by specified persons. Existing law requires the county superintendent of schools, within 30 days after a petition for reorganization is filed, to examine the petition and, if the county superintendent of schools finds it to be sufficient and signed, to transmit the petition simultaneously to the county committee on school district organization and the State Board of Education.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to the latter provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 35704 of the Education Code is amended to read:

35704.
 The county superintendent of schools, within 30 days after any petition for reorganization is filed, shall examine the petition and, if he or she the county superintendent of schools finds it to be sufficient and signed as required by law, transmit the petition simultaneously to the county committee and to the State Board of Education. the state board.
