	BILL TEXT

INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Waldron

                        JANUARY 23, 2014

An act to amend Section 14611 of the Welfare and Institutions
Code, relating to Medi-Cal.

	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1541, as introduced, Waldron. Medi-Cal: hospital reimbursement.

Existing law provides for the Medi-Cal program, which is
administered by the State Department of Health Care Services and
under which qualified low-income persons receive health care
benefits. Existing law declares the intent of the Legislature to
enact a method for reimbursing hospitals for inpatient and outpatient
services provided to Medi-Cal beneficiaries on a prospectively
negotiated contractual basis and to develop and test alternatives
that would become the basis for a permanent contracting system.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that
statement of intent.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 14611 of the Welfare and Institutions Code is
amended to read:
14611. It is the intention intent
of the Legislature to enact a method for reimbursing hospitals for
inpatient and outpatient services provided to Medi-Cal beneficiaries
on a prospectively negotiated contractual basis. The provisions of
this article are intended to develop and test alternatives for
contractually arranging for the payment and delivery of such
  those services which
that will become the basis for a permanent contracting system.
