An act to amend Section 51225.4 of the Education Code, relating to pupil instruction.

AB 1415, as introduced, Cunningham. Pupil instruction: high school graduation requirements.

Existing law requires a pupil to complete designated coursework while in grades 9 to 12, inclusive, in order to receive a diploma of graduation from high school. Existing law requires the governing board of an elementary school district to certify to the Superintendent of Public Instruction that it has adopted a policy to implement a course of instruction that sufficiently prepares the pupils in the district for the course of study required to receive a diploma of graduation from high school.

This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to the latter provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

Section 51225.4 of the Education Code is amended to read:

51225.4.

The governing board of ~~each~~ an elementary school district shall certify to the Superintendent ~~of Public Instruction~~ that it has adopted a policy to implement a course of instruction that sufficiently prepares the pupils in the district for the course of study required in Section 51225.3. This certification shall be submitted to the ~~superintendent~~ Superintendent at the same time the elementary school district submits its apportionment reports.
