BILL NUMBER: AB 1232 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Logue FEBRUARY 18, 2011 An act to amend Section 101 of the Elections Code, relating to elections. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 1232, as introduced, Logue. Elections. Existing law requires that a state or local initiative petition required to be signed by the voters contain a notice to the signers that the person circulating the petition may be a paid signature gatherer and that the signer has the right to inquire. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to this provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 101 of the Elections Code is amended to read: 101. Notwithstanding any other provision of law,anya state or local initiative petition required to be signed by voters shall contain in 12-point type, prior to that portion of the petition for voters' signatures, printed names, and residence addresses, the following language: "NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC THIS PETITION MAY BE CIRCULATED BY A PAID SIGNATURE GATHERER OR A VOLUNTEER. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK."
