   An act to amend Section 101 of the Elections Code, relating to
elections.



	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 1232, as introduced, Logue. Elections.
   Existing law requires that a state or local initiative petition
required to be signed by the voters contain a notice to the signers
that the person circulating the petition may be a paid signature
gatherer and that the signer has the right to inquire.
   This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to this provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 101 of the Elections Code is amended to read:
   101.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law,  any
  a  state or local initiative petition required to
be signed by voters shall contain in 12-point type, prior to that
portion of the petition for voters' signatures, printed names, and
residence addresses, the following language:


      "NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC


THIS PETITION MAY BE CIRCULATED BY A PAID SIGNATURE GATHERER OR A
VOLUNTEER. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK."
