FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 94 as amended and reported by the Committee on Finance and Taxation General Fund extends the state death benefit to include (1) certain firefighters employed by the Alabama Forestry Commission and (2) volunteer firefighters rescue squad members who die of certain medical conditions within 24 hours of performing certain duties. This bill would increase the obligations of the State General Fund by an estimated $126,000 for each state death benefit payment made to a surviving beneficiary or dependent of any such firefighter or rescue member killed in the line of duty after January 1, 2019.
