R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sidney Lanier High School in the San Antonio
  Independent School District is celebrating its 100th anniversary in
  2023; and
         WHEREAS, The campus traces its origins to 1915, when it was
  established as McKinley Elementary; named for American poet,
  author, and musician Sidney Lanier, it became Lanier Junior School
  in 1923, when the junior school system was first implemented; in
  1929, the school expanded to include both junior high and high
  school grade levels, and it remained a six-year campus until its
  junior high students transferred to a new school in 1969; Sidney
  Lanier High School's current campus opened in 1975; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the school provides students in grades 9
  through 12 with a rigorous curriculum and a broad range of
  extracurricular activities; the campus benefits from the able
  leadership of its principal, Dr. Ricky Flores; and
         WHEREAS, For the past century, Sidney Lanier High School has
  provided its students with a strong educational foundation on which
  to build, and it has made a positive and lasting difference in the
  lives of generations of San Antonio residents; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sidney
  Lanier High School and extend to the school's faculty, staff, and
  students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Sidney Lanier High School as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas Senate.
