Recognizing the value of, and supporting, small town and Main Street development in West Virginia.

Whereas, Small towns and Main Street communities are integral components of West Virginia's cultural heritage and economic vitality; and

Whereas, Vibrant Main Street business districts attract tourists, residents, and entrepreneurs, enhancing community pride and fostering a sense of place; and

Whereas, Small businesses are the backbone of West Virginia's economy, providing jobs, services, and unique products that enrich the lives of residents; and

Whereas, Investing in infrastructure, revitalization efforts, community engagement, and small business support programs can stimulate economic growth and create opportunities for local entrepreneurs; and

Whereas, Preserving the historic character and charm of Main Street areas contributes to the overall appeal and attractiveness of West Virginia as a destination for visitors and new residents; and

Whereas, The Senate hereby expresses its unwavering support for the development and revitalization of small towns and Main Street business districts throughout the state; and

Whereas, The Senate encourages state agencies, local governments, and community organizations to prioritize resources and initiatives that promote the growth and sustainability of small towns; and

Whereas, The Senate urges collaboration among stakeholders, including government entities, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community members to develop comprehensive strategies for small town revitalization and economic development; and

Whereas, The Senate affirms its commitment to preserving the historic character and cultural heritage of West Virginia's small towns while supporting innovation and entrepreneurship to ensure their continued prosperity; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby recognizes the value of, and supports, small town and Main Street development in West Virginia; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Brian Phillips, Policy Engagement Coordinator, West Virginia Community Development Hub, James C. Justice II, Governor of West Virginia, and the West Virginia Department of Commerce.
