WHEREAS, since 2022, the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation has greatly supported children diagnosed with or recovering from cancer and their families through its Education Support Navigator program; and
WHEREAS, more than 350 children are diagnosed with cancer every year in the Commonwealth, while more than 2,500 survivors are coping with late effects from treatment, which include cognitive, physical, and emotional issues that will impact their ability to learn; and
WHEREAS, the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation and its five primary cancer treatment centers are working collaboratively to find solutions that will help raise the level of care for all children with cancer; and
WHEREAS, the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation's new Education Support Navigator program is helping the Commonwealth's young cancer patients and survivors move forward with their lives during and after treatment; and
WHEREAS, in the last 12 months, ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation's Education Support Navigator program has helped 519 pediatric cancer patients and survivors transition back to school with the support that they need to be successful; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation are the result of the tireless efforts of its advocates, who have been a voice for Virginia's children battling cancer; and
WHEREAS, many of the advocates supporting the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation have faced the fight against cancer firsthand and are working to make the journey easier for the children and families who follow them; and
WHEREAS, the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation has led the effort to build impactful programs that provide family support, back-to-school support, and community and connection for patients, survivors, and families across the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation for its efforts to support the Commonwealth's youngest cancer patients and survivors through its Education Support Navigator program, which will help them navigate their treatment and move forward after their devastating diagnosis; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's mission and best wishes for its continued success.
