WHEREAS, Charlottesville Community Engagement is an initiative started by award-winning journalist Sean Tubbs in 2020 to provide news and information of interest to the Charlottesville community in an accessible and engaging format; and
WHEREAS, operating as a Substack newsletter and a podcast, Charlottesville Community Engagement has produced hundreds of newsletters and podcast episodes that have reached more than 2,000 subscribers, helping this audience better understand the inner workings of their local and state governments; and
WHEREAS, Sean Tubbs, the creator of Charlottesville Community Engagement, is a journalist local to the Charlottesville area with approximately 30 years of experience in local and regional government; and
WHEREAS, from 2007 to 2018, Sean Tubbs was senior reporter for Charlottesville Tomorrow, developing skills and experience that would prove vital to his efforts with Charlottesville Community Engagement; and
WHEREAS, recognizing that an informed citizenry is the foundation of all democracies, Charlottesville Community Engagement has provided an invaluable service to the community of Charlottesville and helped to make the city a more luminous place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Charlottesville Community Engagement hereby be commended for its contributions to Charlottesville and the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sean Tubbs, founder of Charlottesville Community Engagement, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his mission and achievements.
