relating to requiring certain institutions of higher education to | ||
enter into an agreement to offer undergraduate courses in Texas | ||
History. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 51.302, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) A college or university receiving state support or state | ||
aid from public funds that does not offer at least three semester | ||
credit hours or the equivalent in Texas History to undergraduate | ||
students shall enter into an agreement with another postsecondary | ||
educational institution to offer to the college or university's | ||
undergraduate students at least three semester credit hours or the | ||
equivalent in Texas History. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 | ||
academic year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
