relating to the composition of the Public Utility Commission of | ||
Texas. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Sections 12.051(a) and (b), Utilities Code, are | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) The commission is composed of five [ |

commissioners appointed by the governor with the advice and consent | ||
of the senate. | ||
(b) An appointment to the commission shall be made without | ||
regard to the race, color, disability, sex, religion, age, or | ||
national origin of the appointee. The appointments shall be made to | ||
reflect the diverse geographic regions of this state. | ||
SECTION 2. The governor shall promptly appoint two | ||
commissioners to the Public Utility Commission of Texas in | ||
accordance with Section 12.051, Utilities Code, as amended by this | ||
Act. The governor shall designate one commissioner to a term that | ||
expires September 1, 2025, and one commissioner to a term that | ||
expires September 1, 2027. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
