R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The archers of the Canton High School A Team claimed
  the school's second consecutive state title with a victory at the
  championship tournament on February 25, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Two different Canton squads took part in the state
  competition, and the Eagles' A Team scored a total of 3,217 points
  to best second-place winner Argyle High, a previous three-time
  state champion; the Canton B Team also turned in a fine performance
  to finish in third with a total score of 3,166; with their triumph
  in the tournament, the Canton archers qualified to take part in the
  National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, and they will also
  compete in the Texas/Oklahoma Shootout in Sherman; and
         WHEREAS, The top male shooters in the competition were Chance
  Wallace, Roy Denbow, and Seth Carroll, while Kaylie Robertson, Codi
  Tutt, and Jaci Heard led the females; Ms. Robertson placed third in
  the individual standings at state to win a scholarship from the
  Texas Parks and Wildlife Department; and
         WHEREAS, Under the skillful guidance of Coach Danny
  Yarbrough, the Eagles dominated their opponents in all three
  invitation meets of the season, scoring victories at Union Grove,
  Flower Mound, and Ennis; since winning the 2010 title in its first
  year of competition, Canton's team has built its fan base and gained
  numerous members, enabling it to field two full squads of 24
  students each; and
         WHEREAS, The two state titles attained by the Canton High
  archers are a testament to their talent, hard work, and dedication,
  and they are a source of great pride to their school and their many
  supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Canton High School archery team
  on winning its second consecutive state championship and extend to
  its members sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
