| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 33, Education Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 33.2055 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 33.2055. HEAT STRESS SAFETY POLICY REQUIRED FOR | ||
| OUTDOOR ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES. (a) A school district or | ||
| open-enrollment charter school that offers an extracurricular | ||
| athletic activity that includes outdoor practices or competitions | ||
| shall adopt a heat stress safety policy for outdoor athletic | ||
| activities to protect student athletes from heat-related injury. | ||
| The policy must include criteria for taking appropriate protective | ||
| measures based on the wet-bulb globe temperature at the location of | ||
| the activity. | ||
| (b) Any organization, company, or other entity using a | ||
| school district or open-enrollment charter school facility for an | ||
| outdoor athletic activity shall comply with the district's or | ||
| school's policy adopted under Subsection (a). | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | ||
| last day of the legislative session. | ||
