A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a heat stress safety policy for outdoor athletic
  activities at public schools.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter F, Chapter 33, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 33.2055 to read as follows:
         Sec. 33.2055.  HEAT STRESS SAFETY POLICY REQUIRED FOR
  OUTDOOR ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES. (a) A school district or
  open-enrollment charter school that offers an extracurricular
  athletic activity that includes outdoor practices or competitions
  shall adopt a heat stress safety policy for outdoor athletic
  activities to protect student athletes from heat-related injury.
  The policy must include criteria for taking appropriate protective
  measures based on the wet-bulb globe temperature at the location of
  the activity.
         (b)  Any organization, company, or other entity using a
  school district or open-enrollment charter school facility for an
  outdoor athletic activity shall comply with the district's or
  school's policy adopted under Subsection (a).
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the
  last day of the legislative session.
