A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the elevation of high-speed rail tracks in certain
  counties.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 112, Transportation Code,
  is amended by adding Section 112.104 to read as follows:
         Sec. 112.104.  ELEVATED HIGH-SPEED RAIL TRACKS IN CERTAIN
  COUNTIES.  (a)  In this section, "high-speed rail" has the meaning
  assigned by Section 112.201.
         (b)  Except as necessary for passenger boarding, high-speed
  rail tracks located in a county with a population of more than one
  million or a county adjacent to a county with a population of more
  than one million must be elevated on pylons to 40 feet or more above
  the ground.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
