STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9135 IN SENATE April 30, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. COONEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni- cations AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to electric vehicle charging stations The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 9-a of section 1005 of the public authorities 2 law, as added by section 1 of part KK of chapter 58 of the laws of 2019, 3 is amended to read as follows: 4 9-a. As deemed feasible and advisable by the trustees, to design, 5 finance, develop, construct, install, lease, operate and maintain elec- 6 tric vehicle charging stations throughout the state for use by the 7 public. The authority shall annually post on their website a report on 8 those activities undertaken pursuant to this subdivision, including but 9 not limited to: the total number of electric vehicle charging stations 10 in operation pursuant to such authorization, the locations of such 11 charging stations, and the total costs to the authority associated with 12 such activities. The authority, in consultation with the New York state 13 energy and research development authority, the department of transporta- 14 tion, and any other relevant state or local agency or department, shall 15 require that all newly constructed electric vehicle charging stations 16 available for public use which are capable of accepting payment shall 17 accept all major credit cards as defined in section five hundred twen- 18 ty-one of the general business law. 19 § 2.
