Senate Resolution No. 905 BY: Senator HARCKHAM MOURNING the death of Joseph Patrick Kelleher, devoted family man, distinguished citizen, and dedicated member of his community WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who, through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive impact on the lives of its residents; Joseph Patrick Kelleher was one such individual; and WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this Legislative Body records the passing of Joseph Patrick Kelleher, noting the significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher of Katonah, New York, died on Friday, November 25, 2022, at the age of 70; and WHEREAS, Born in New York, NY, on November 5, 1952, to the late James Kelleher and the late Ellen Killourhy, Joseph Patrick Kelleher led a full life of love, hard work, philanthropy, friendship, and dedication; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Hutch Management LLC, a Division of Simone Metro Properties, where he was responsible for overseeing the 42-acre Hutchinson Metro Center Office Complex with 1.4 million square feet of Class A office, medical, retail, and educational space, as well as other commercial properties in the Tri-State area; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher joined the Hutchinson Metro Center in 2003 at the project's inception and has spearheaded the successful leasing activity at the complex which is considered one of the most successful office parks in the region; and WHEREAS, Beginning his illustrious career in the Real Estate Division of NYNEX as Property Manager for the Corporate Headquarters Building, Joseph Patrick Kelleher subsequently served as Director of Property Management for Catalano Kornblum Management Corporation and Winoker Realty Corporation, as well as being the Chief Executive Officer of Casino New York LLC; and WHEREAS, In addition to his leadership role at the Hutchinson Metro Center, Joseph Patrick Kelleher served as Chairman of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair of the Westchester Square Business Improvement District, and was on the Board of Directors of the New Rochelle Police Department Foundation; and WHEREAS, Furthermore, he recently served as President of the Boy Scouts of America for the Bronx Council and was on the Board of Directors for the BSA Greater New York Region for eight years; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher has been honored by the Bronx Business Alliance, Rotary Club, Bronx Board of Realtors, NYC Police Department, Jacobi Hospital, Manhattan College, Liberty Democratic Association, R.A.I.N., Mercy College, and the Bronx Historical Society; he received the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizens Award, has been designated a Boy Scouts of America James E. West Fellow, and has received the Silver Beaver Award for his exceptional character and his distinguished service within the Bronx Council; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher, a Real Property Administrator (RPA), was a member of the Building Owners and Managers Organization, Bronx-Manhattan Board of Realtors, Graduate and Member of the FBI Citizens Academy, and Host of "Bronx Now" on the BronxNet Network; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher recently received an Honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree from Mercy College in recognition of his many achievements; and WHEREAS, In addition to all of his amazing business accomplishments, Joseph Patrick Kelleher was an extremely talented and gifted musician, playing the accordion, guitar, and piano; with a truly beautiful voice, he was the only tenor in the choir of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Katonah, New York, for over 20 years; he also performed in many local community theater shows and was part of a Beatles tribute cover band, "Yesterdaze"; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher was a devoted husband and father, always placing his family first; he is survived by his loving wife, Roberta, and two wonderful children, Kristin and Ryan, as well as many dear family members, friends, co-workers, and associates; and WHEREAS, Joseph Patrick Kelleher's infinite selflessness and benevolence will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to the countless lives he touched; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Joseph Patrick Kelleher leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Joseph Patrick Kelleher, and to express its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Joseph Patrick Kelleher.
