AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO MR. NORMAN IVEY OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Mr. Norman Ivey of Rankin County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of Burglary Occupied Dwelling on December 4, 1998, in Rankin County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve two (2) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections followed by five (5) years Post Release Supervision, which was later revoked.  On March 9, 2001, he was convicted of the crime of Burglary Occupied Dwelling for which he was sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.  He was released on Earned Release Supervision on February 18, 2003 and discharged on June 20, 2003.  He was convicted for the crime of Possession of Precursor with Intent to Manufacture in Rankin County, Mississippi, on January 30, 2006, for which he was sentenced to serve seven (7) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections followed by five (5) years Post Release Supervision.  He was returned to the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections on August 6, 2008, and released to Post Release Supervision on April 16, 2009, which was revoked as a result of his conviction for Possession of Precursor with Intent to Manufacture to Term Served followed by five (5) years Post Release Supervision.

     He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence and was discharged on November 5, 2015.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
