A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

"The revised school code,"

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 10b.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 10b. (1) The board of a school district or intermediate school district or board of directors of a public school academy shall ensure that the parent or legal guardian of an enrolled pupil is notified of any long-term impact decision made by or on behalf of the pupil. This subsection does not apply to a pupil who is over the age of 18 or is an emancipated minor.

(2) As used in this section, "long-term impact decision" means a decision that has an effect on any of the following:

(a) The pupil's physical health.

(b) The pupil's mental health.

(c) The pupil's academic potential.

(d) The pupil's occupational potential.
