Senate File 2311 - Enrolled SENATE FILE BY COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS (SUCCESSOR TO SF 2073) (SUCCESSOR TO SSB 3041) \5 A BILL FOR \1 Senate File 2311 AN ACT RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC DEFENSE BY PROVIDING FOR THE GOLD STAR MILITARY MUSEUM. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: Section 1. Section 29.1, Code 2016, is amended to read as follows: 29.1 Department of public defense. The department of public defense is composed of the office of the adjutant generaland, the military forces of the state of Iowa, and the Iowa gold star military museum as established in section 29.4. The adjutant general is the director of the department of public defense and shall perform all functions, responsibilities, powers, and duties concerning the military forces of the state of Iowa and the Iowa gold star military museum as provided in the laws of the state. Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 29.4 Iowa gold star military museum. 1. The department of public defense shall establish a military historical museum located at Camp Dodge which shall be known as the "Iowa gold star military museum". The museum shall be administered by the adjutant general. 2. The adjutant general may appoint a museum director and such other personnel from the full=time equivalent positions authorized the department for the purposes of maintaining and operating the Iowa gold star military museum. The museum director shall have such responsibilities as may be assigned by the adjutant general.
