Summary

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 5 of Title 19 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to divorce, so as to require certain divorcing parents to participate in educational skills building classes that focus on the effect of divorce on families; to provide for the types of person who can provide the education; to provide for exceptions to the education classes; to change certain provisions relating to the time limit for granting a divorce on the ground that the marriage is irretrievably broken; to provide for different time frames for granting divorce based on certain circumstances; to make certain changes relating to contents of a petition for divorce; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date and applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
