A BILL to amend and reenact §30-13-18 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers; changing the renewal date for certificates, registrations and certificates of authorization for firms to January 1; authorizing annual or biennial renewal periods; authorizing renewal notification by mail or electronically; and providing expiration requirements.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That §30-13-18 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 13. ENGINEERS.
§30-13-18. Renewal requirements.
(a) Commencing January 1, 2015, all certificates, registrations and certificates of authorization for firms shall be renewed annually or biennially on or before January 1.
(b) The board may issue certifications, registrations and certificates of authorization for firms for the six-month period from July 1, 2014, through December 31, 2014.
(c) At least one month prior to renewal, the secretary of the board shall notify each person certified or registered, and each firm holding a certification of authorization, by mail or electronic means at the contact information provided to the board.
(d) If a certification, registration or certificate of authorization is not timely renewed, then it expires.
(e) The board may require reexamination and the payment of penalty fees for a registration that has expired.
