HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 23

(BY DELEGATES E. PRITT, BROOKS, AND FAST)

[Introduced January 15, 2024; referred to the Committee on Technology and Infrastructure then Rules.]

 

Requesting the Division of Highways name the bridge numbered 6176, also called "I77 OV 23/2 PAX IC, which is the turnpike exit to Pax, the "Cody J. Mullens Memorial Bridge".

Whereas, Cody J. Mullens, originally from Mt. Hope, WV, lived a life of distinction worthy of being remembered; and

Whereas, Cody was a forester and employee of the West Virginia Division of Forestry; and

Whereas, Cody was an avid camper, hunter, fisherman, reader, and fan of the Transformers; and

Whereas, Cody shared his love of reading and all things sci-fi as the President of the Glenville Science Fiction Guild; and

Whereas, Cody spent his last days defending the beautiful forests and people of West Virginia by fighting fires; and

Whereas, Cody lost his life while courageously battling a wildfire that placed the people and places he loved at risk, helping to preserve our beautiful state and its people; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name the bridge numbered 6176, also called "I77 OV 23/2 PAX IC, which is the turnpike exit to Pax, the "Cody J. Mullens Memorial Bridge" ; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to erect signs containing bold and prominent letters identifying the bridge as the "Cody J. Mullens Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
