A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §20-2-65, relating to moving the start of firearms deer season to begin the Saturday before the week of the Thanksgiving holiday every year.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

ARTICLE 2. WILDLIFE RESOURCES.

§20-2-65. Start of firearms season for deer to begin Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Beginning January 1, 2025, the opening day of deer season for firearms shall begin on the Saturday before the week of Thanksgiving each year. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources shall adjust the season for hunting and implement this code section into their regulations upon passage of this section.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to move the opening date of firearms season for deer to begin on the Saturday before the week of Thanksgiving each year.
