SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 176
Commending students at Farmwell Station Middle School.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, March 8, 2024

 

WHEREAS, students at Farmwell Station Middle School in Ashburn, including Liam Gandhi, Anvi Allada, Yuki Vadlamudi, Arjun Deo, Trisha Kamat, and Ethan Mills, are interested in pursuing future careers in health care; and

WHEREAS, these students organized at their school to begin a chapter of HOSA–Future Health Professionals to learn more about future health careers, but were unable to do so under current Virginia law; and

WHEREAS, these students showed an incredible commitment to their education by advocating for new legislation in the Commonwealth that would expand access to career and technical student organizations like HOSA in Virginia middle and high schools; and

WHEREAS, these students testified before the K-12 Subcommittee of the House Committee on Education in support of the legislation on February 27, 2024, showing an impressive amount of dedication and drive; and

WHEREAS, thanks to their testimony, the legislation passed the House Committee on Education unanimously; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Liam Gandhi, Anvi Allada, Yuki Vadlamudi, Arjun Deo, Trisha Kamat, and Ethan Mills, students at Farmwell Station Middle School, hereby be commended for their commitment to student advocacy; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to Liam Gandhi, Anvi Allada, Yuki Vadlamudi, Arjun Deo, Trisha Kamat, and Ethan Mills as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for their dedication to improving access to career and technical student organizations in the Commonwealth.
