SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 232
Commending William A. Webb.

WHEREAS, William A. Webb, a distinguished law-enforcement officer who served the residents of the Northern Neck for 47 years as a member of several police agencies, retired from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office on September 20, 2023; and

WHEREAS, William "Bill" Webb began his career with the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office on January 1, 1976, and graduated from the police academy the following July; and

WHEREAS, Bill Webb served with the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office until 1985, when he joined the Kilmarnock Police Department, then transferred to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Bill Webb rose through the ranks of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office to become lieutenant of the patrol division, then lieutenant of the detective division; and

WHEREAS, beginning in 2008, Bill Webb served the community as a part-time courtroom security deputy for the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and as a part-time detective for the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Bill Webb also served two stints as chief of the White Stone Police Department from August 1992 to July 2002 and from January 2008 to July 2012; and

WHEREAS, Bill Webb returned to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office as the full-time chief deputy on January 1, 2016, and served in that capacity for seven years; and

WHEREAS, Bill Webb served and protected the residents of the Northern Neck with the utmost dedication, integrity, and professionalism; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend William A. Webb on the occasion of his retirement as a law-enforcement officer in 2023; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to William A. Webb as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his legacy of exceptional service to the Northern Neck community.
