SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 116
Celebrating the life of Mia Ethridge.

WHEREAS, Mia Ethridge, a beloved daughter and sister and a highly admired member of the Louisa County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, died on September 1, 2023, from injuries sustained in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Mia Ethridge was born in Frederick, Maryland, and grew up in Maryland and Virginia; and

WHEREAS, a 2021 homeschool graduate, Mia Ethridge was known for her kindness and cheerful sense of humor; she was driven to pursue a career in public safety by her passion for helping others; and

WHEREAS, Mia Ethridge safeguarded the lives and property of Louisa County residents as a firefighter and emergency medical technician, and she inspired her colleagues through her enthusiasm for learning the craft of firefighting; and

WHEREAS, Mia Ethridge led by example, demonstrating the utmost courage, dedication, and compassion while serving members of the public; and

WHEREAS, Mia Ethridge touched countless lives through her commitment to service, and her passing is a reminder of the dangers bravely faced by firefighters throughout the Commonwealth every day; and

WHEREAS, Mia Ethridge will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her parents, Mark and Grace Ethridge; her siblings, Nolan and Taylor; and numerous other family members, friends, and fellow public safety officers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Mia Ethridge, a member of the Louisa County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services and a vibrant member of her community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mia Ethridge as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
