A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding §63.2-229 prohibiting contracts with or funding of child-placing agencies that engage in discrimination.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding section numbered 63.2-229 as follows:

§63.2-229 Prohibition on contracting with or funding child-placing agencies that engage in discrimination.

The Department shall not contract with or otherwise fund directly or indirectly a child-placing agency that in making child-placement decisions discriminates against children or otherwise eligible prospective foster or adoptive parents solely on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, family status, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity.
