Commending Jamarii Thomas.

WHEREAS, in 2024, Jamarii Thomas, a guard on the Norfolk State University men's basketball team, received the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards and the BOXTOROW HBCU National Co-Player of the Year award; and

WHEREAS, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jamarii Thomas led The Burlington School Spartans to a 24–7 record and a North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship in his senior year of high school; and

WHEREAS, after two productive seasons at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Jamarii Thomas transferred to Norfolk State University (NSU) in his junior year and went on to lead the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in scoring with an average of more than 17 points per game and two 20-point performances; and

WHEREAS, Jamarii Thomas also finished the season with an 81.3 free throw percentage and the most free throws in the league, as well as an impressive average of 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game; and

WHEREAS, as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year and the BOXTOROW HBCU National Co-Player of the Year award winner, Jamarii Thomas was selected as a member of the 2023-2024 Men's Basketball All-MEAC Team and the BOXTOROW HBCU All-America First Team; and

WHEREAS, in addition to winning the MEAC regular season title, Jamarii Thomas and the NSU Spartans finished their 2023–2024 season on a high note, defeating the Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons by a score of 75–67 at the Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament in March 2024; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Jamarii Thomas hereby be commended on winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards and the BOXTOROW HBCU National Co-Player of the Year award during his 2023–2024 season with the Norfolk State University men's basketball team; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jamarii Thomas as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his exceptional athletic achievements.
