WHEREAS, the Northside High School softball team of Roanoke County secured the program's first state title in 13 years with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship on June 10, 2023; and

WHEREAS, the Northside High School Vikings defeated the York High School Falcons in the state final by a score of 3–1; and

WHEREAS, the York Falcons took an early 1–0 lead, but the Northside Vikings responded with two runs by McKenzie Taylor and Sydney Jordan; and

WHEREAS, McKenzie Taylor added another run in the seventh inning, and the Northside Vikings defense, led by pitcher Baylee Compton, kept the York Falcons from rallying late in the game; and

WHEREAS, the victorious season is a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of friends, family members, and the entire Northside High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Northside High School softball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2023; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kassie Brammer, head coach of the Northside High School softball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievements.
