HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 402
Commending Fairfax Diapers.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 8, 2024

WHEREAS, for five years, Fairfax Diapers has raised awareness of diaper insecurity among local families and collected and donated diapers to people in need; and

WHEREAS, while volunteering with the charitable organization Food for Others, Christine Kenny was dismayed at the number of clients who frequently asked for diapers, even offering to trade food for diapers; and

WHEREAS, while Food for Others did carry small supplies of diapers at the time, Christine Kenny learned that most clients were not eligible to receive them and that there were no other organizations in Fairfax dedicated to helping families receive regular supplies of clean diapers; and

WHEREAS, Food for Others ultimately agreed to allow Christine Kenny to store donated diapers in and distribute donated diapers from its warehouse, and Fairfax Diapers was officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Fairfax Diapers has held diaper drives at local churches and businesses, and every third Wednesday serves as a diaper packing day, when volunteers pack diapers at Christine Kenny's home; and

WHEREAS, Fairfax Diapers also works with other nonprofit organizations and charities to collect and distribute diapers to diaper banks in the area, partnering with trusted organizations like the Fairfax County Visiting Nurses Association; and

WHEREAS, under Christine Kenny's outstanding leadership, Fairfax Diapers has distributed almost one million diapers since 2019, changing the lives of numerous families; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Fairfax Diapers hereby be commended for its generous work to provide an everyday necessity to families in need; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Fairfax Diapers as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's achievements in service to families in the Fairfax community.
