HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 228
Commending Franklin Craig Meadows.

WHEREAS, Franklin Craig Meadows, a devoted civil servant who has served the public in North Carolina and the Commonwealth for more than 34 years, retired from his longstanding position as county administrator of Montgomery County on November 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows became county administrator of Montgomery County on August 1, 2009, and has been a vital member of the locality's leadership team for the past 14 years; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows' accomplishments during his tenure as county administrator include more than 20 new construction and renovation projects supporting initiatives in education, public safety, recreation, broadband access, and more; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows has consistently advocated with great passion and enthusiasm for developing the region's economy by growing and promoting existing businesses and attracting and retaining new companies; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows has made an impact on the regional level through leadership roles with a number of organizations and initiatives, including the New River Valley Emergency Communications Regional Authority, the New River Valley Regional Water Authority, the New River Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board, the Western Virginia Regional Jail Authority, and other local groups; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows' experience and expertise also proved invaluable on the state and national level through his involvement with organizations such as the Virginia Association of Counties, the Virginia Local Government Management Association, and the International City/County Management Association; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows served on the New River Valley Public Health Task Force established in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to guide the region through the unprecedented public health crisis; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows has been the recipient of many accolades in recognition of his service, including the 2021 Distinguished Government Leader of the Year award from the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and the 2021 Champion of the Valley award from the New River Valley Regional Commission; and

WHEREAS, Craig Meadows' tenure as county administrator has been defined by his willingness to collaborate, his attention to efficacy and efficiency, and his unwavering commitment to the well-being of Montgomery County and its residents and businesses; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Franklin Craig Meadows hereby be commended for his exemplary public service and dedication on the occasion of his retirement as county administrator of Montgomery County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Franklin Craig Meadows as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes in his future endeavors.
