HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 387 Commending Yahney-Marie Sangar�. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 5, 2024 Agreed to by the Senate, March 7, 2024

WHEREAS, Yahney-Marie Sangar�, a senior at Alexandria City High School, received the prestigious Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award in 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award recognizes the academic accomplishments, excellence of character, devotion to duty, and leadership qualities in outstanding Virginia students like Yahney-Marie Sangar�; and

WHEREAS, one student from each of the Commonwealth's 11 congressional districts is selected as a winner of the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award, with Yahney-Marie Sangar� representing Virginia's 8th Congressional District; and

WHEREAS, as a Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award honoree, Yahney-Marie Sangar� also received a $25,000 cash prize; and

WHEREAS, the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award was first presented in the spring of 1995, and Yahney-Marie Sangar� joins the ranks of more than 300 fellow recipients in the history of the award; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Yahney-Marie Sangar�, a distinguished recipient of the Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Yahney-Marie Sangar� as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements in academics and community leadership and best wishes for the future.
