| WHEREAS, Athletes from the El Paso Special Needs Athletic | ||
| Group 915 Stars achieved great distinction with their | ||
| exceptional performances in the soccer competition and | ||
| individual events at the Special Olympics Texas 2023 Summer | ||
| Games, held in San Antonio from May 18 to 21; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Group 915 Stars offer individuals with special | ||
| needs who are out of the school system the opportunity to continue | ||
| playing sports within the Special Olympics framework; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Joining other talented competitors from across | ||
| Texas, a Group 915 Stars soccer team finished at the top of the | ||
| Group A standings to claim the gold medal and the No. 1 ranking in | ||
| the state; in addition, a second Stars soccer squad earned first | ||
| place in Group D, and two athletes collected medals in individual | ||
| events; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the 2023 Summer Games, | ||
| the members of the Group 915 Stars have become a source of great | ||
| pride to their families and to their community, and they are | ||
| indeed deserving of recognition for the skill and dedication they | ||
| have demonstrated; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate the El Paso Special Needs | ||
| Athletic Group 915 Stars on their medal-winning performances in | ||
| soccer and other competitions at the Special Olympics Texas 2023 | ||
| Summer Games and extend to the athletes and coaches sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Group 915 Stars as an expression of high regard | ||
| from the Texas Senate. | ||
