SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 58
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Bill Harper
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the passing of
  Bill W. Harper of Hideaway on August 10, 2023, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Longview, Bill Harper was born on
  October 10, 1944, to Bill and Floy Weeks Harper; he graduated
  from Longview High School in 1963 before earning degrees in
  economics and accounting from Stephen F. Austin State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Harper began his career working for Sears in
  Longview, where he rose to the position of assistant store
  manager, and he later struck out on his own and purchased a
  full-service Gulf station; his business interests grew to
  include A-1 Rent-All, an equipment and party rental store, which
  under his leadership expanded to multiple locations across East
  Texas; he sold the business in 1998 but continued to serve as a
  consultant to the new owners, and during his semi-retirement, he
  settled in Hideaway; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his loved ones, Mr. Harper shared a
  rewarding marriage with his wife, Donna, and he took great pride
  in his sons, Casey Harper and Chris Harper, who preceded his
  father in death; with the passing years, the family grew to
  include four granddaughters, Colby, Hannah, Lanie, and Madison,
  and two great-granddaughters, Harper and Kora; and
         WHEREAS, Among his many hobbies, Mr. Harper was an avid
  fisherman who spent countless days on the water at Lake Cherokee,
  Lake Palestine, and Hideaway Lake, and he greatly enjoyed taking
  RV trips with Mrs. Harper and his dogs, visiting locations across
  the U.S.; he was also passionate about collectible cars,
  including his prized 50th Anniversary Corvette; a man of faith,
  he was a member of ChristPoint Methodist Church Lindale; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Harper lived a life that was rich in
  meaningful achievements, and he will forever be remembered with
  deep admiration and affection by all those who held him dear;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Bill W. Harper and extend sincere sympathy to his family and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Bill Harper.
