Nina Sinclair | ||
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Nina Lee Green Sinclair of Lubbock on May 4, 2022, at | ||
the age of 96; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of John Duff Green and Myra Kelly | ||
Green, the former Nina Green was born in Roaring Springs on May | ||
24, 1925; she grew up on the Greenland stock farm on the banks of | ||
the Tongue River with the company of two brothers, Mervin and | ||
John, and four sisters, Mary, Sue, Ruth, and Nell; baptized at | ||
Roaring Springs First Baptist Church in 1936, she was guided by | ||
her faith ever after; she graduated from Roaring Springs High | ||
School, and during World War II, she relocated to Lubbock to work | ||
as an artist; she hand-colored portraits at Koen's Studio, and | ||
later, she was employed as a photographer and designer for Texas | ||
Tech University's La Ventana yearbook; and | ||
WHEREAS, On January 18, 1946, she married her childhood | ||
sweetheart, Louis Avery Sinclair, and the couple settled in | ||
Abernathy; they were blessed with three children, David, Terri, | ||
and Jerry Don, and Mrs. Sinclair dedicated herself to her home | ||
and family; while supporting her husband in his career with | ||
Southwestern Public Service Company, she also encouraged her | ||
children to achieve their full potential, both in school and | ||
through their involvement in such activities as 4-H, FFA, and | ||
athletics; her fiercely protective nature prompted Mr. Sinclair | ||
to give her the nickname "Ma Bear"; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Sinclairs moved to Lubbock in 1972; through | ||
the years, their treasured family grew to include many | ||
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly called Mrs. | ||
Sinclair "Sugar"; she was preceded in death by her beloved | ||
husband in 2009; and | ||
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her faith and her family, Nina | ||
Sinclair set an inspiring example of dignity, integrity, and | ||
determination, and she will be remembered with admiration and | ||
affection by all who held her dear; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Nina Lee Green | ||
Sinclair and extend sincere sympathy to her loved ones: to her | ||
children, David Sinclair and his wife, Connie, Terri Guy and her | ||
husband, Dan, and Jerry Don Sinclair and his wife, Jaki; to her | ||
grandchildren, Darci Sinclair, Duff Sinclair and his wife, Billy | ||
Jo, and Chance Cantwell and his wife, Valerie; to her | ||
great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dixon Sinclair and Colt and | ||
Archer Cantwell; and to her many other relatives and friends; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns | ||
this day, it do so in memory of Nina Sinclair. | ||
