Sue Spruell | ||
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with | ||
the passing of Dorothy Sue Spruell of White Oak on April 20, 2023, | ||
at the age of 93; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of Glen and Vera Wilson, Sue Spruell | ||
grew up sharing in the companionship of a sister, Glenda; she | ||
graduated with honors from Gladewater High School and continued | ||
her education at Kilgore College; she subsequently embarked on a | ||
rewarding career that included a stint with the U.S. government | ||
in New Mexico and a 25-year tenure as an office manager and tax | ||
collector with the City of White Oak; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, | ||
Robert Samuel Spruell, and the couple shared nearly six decades | ||
together, until Mr. Spruell's passing in 2008; Mrs. Spruell was | ||
a devoted mother to her three children, Susan, Bob, and Teri, and | ||
with the passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her | ||
family grow to include five grandchildren, Billy, Cody, Lacie, | ||
Brian, and Brittani, and eight great-grandchildren, Kailyn, | ||
Peyton, Kyla, Abigail, Sophia, Vera, West, and Bennet; her life | ||
was further enriched by her shih tzus Katie and, later, Abby, her | ||
cat Golden, and the many other beloved dogs, cats, and birds that | ||
she and her family took in; and | ||
WHEREAS, In retirement, Mrs. Spruell and her husband | ||
enjoyed spending time with their family and traveling; her | ||
favorite pastimes included quilting, working in her greenhouse, | ||
and going to garage sales; moreover, she was a valued congregant | ||
of White Oak Baptist Church, and she gave generously to her | ||
church, as well as to her children, grandchildren, and | ||
great-grandchildren, and to many charities; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Sue Spruell will be deeply missed, those | ||
who held her dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness | ||
she brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Sue | ||
Spruell and extend sincere condolences to the members of her | ||
family: to her children, Susan Terry and her husband, Steve, Bob | ||
Spruell and his wife, Cindy, and Teri Pfau and her husband, | ||
Kevin; to her grandchildren, Billy Terry, Cody Terry and his | ||
wife, Jessica, Lacie Schwartz and her husband, Steven, Brian | ||
Pfau, and Brittani Larsen and her husband, Daniel; to her | ||
great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Peyton, Kyla, Abigail, Sophia, and | ||
Vera Terry, West Schwartz, and Bennet Larsen; and to her other | ||
relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns | ||
this day, it do so in memory of Sue Spruell. | ||
