| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of | ||
| Medicine, which has been awarded a three-year, $2.88 million | ||
| grant from the United Health Foundation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This generous endowment will help fund the | ||
| Colonia Integrated Care Program: Valley Interprofessional | ||
| Development and Services; it will also support the establishment | ||
| of the Center for Colonia Integrated Care, which will coordinate | ||
| services in two colonias through the use of mobile health clinics | ||
| and telehealth programs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The grant will be administered by The University | ||
| of Texas Rio Grande Valley and will be implemented in | ||
| coordination with the partner organizations of the South Texas | ||
| Integrated Team Collaborative for Health; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was | ||
| created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 and will enroll its | ||
| first class in the fall of 2015; the school of medicine will open | ||
| in 2016; the grant will provide critical resources that will help | ||
| to improve access to and delivery of health care throughout South | ||
| Texas; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend all those associated with The | ||
| University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine on their | ||
| commitment to expanding health care services in South Texas and | ||
| extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| this exemplary institution as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
