| WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of | ||
| mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Michael and Joan Garcia | ||
| celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on December 23, | ||
| 2022; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in Michigan, Mike Garcia met native Texan Joan | ||
| Pakan in Brownwood, where they were both employed at Brownwood | ||
| Memorial Hospital; they were joined in matrimony in 1972, and they | ||
| have since been blessed with a treasured family that includes their | ||
| children, Amerika, Rebeka, Lia, and Michal; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an | ||
| agent with State Farm Insurance; he holds a bachelor's degree in | ||
| education from Howard Payne University, and he currently serves on | ||
| its advisory board; Mrs. Garcia graduated from Texas Woman's | ||
| University cum laude with a degree in nursing, and she went on to | ||
| teach nursing at San Antonio College and Southwest Texas Junior | ||
| College; over the years, the couple have traveled to Rome, Paris, | ||
| London, Vienna, Mexico, and the Bahamas; they have also been active | ||
| members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Uvalde, where Mr. Garcia | ||
| serves as head elder; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Garcia have enjoyed five decades of | ||
| abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an | ||
| exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting | ||
| commitment; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Michael and Joan Garcia on their | ||
| 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Garcia as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
