R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
  memories of Dr. Celia Arellano Gentry of San Benito, who passed
  away on April 21, 2023, at the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Emeterio and Eva Arellano, Celia
  Arellano Gentry was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico on March 3,
  1932; she lived a fulfilling and joyous childhood alongside her
  siblings; Ernestine, Antonia, Emeterio, Aurora and Rosemary.
         WHEREAS, Ms. Gentry graduated in 1952 from San Benito High
  School where she was a member of the San Benito Band. She attended
  Texas Womans University and graduated with a Bachelor degree in
  Education. In 1979 she attended Pan American University and
  graduated with a Masters Degree in Special Education and in 1986
  received her Doctorate in Child Psychology from Texas Womans
  University.
         WHEREAS, Her teaching career started in 1954 in Palacios
  CISD. She taught in Harlingen CISD and San Benito CISD for more than
  25 years. Dr. Gentry retired from Fort Worth CISD in 1999. After her
  retirement, Dr. Gentry continued working for Weslaco CISD where she
  taught special education classes and children who were very ill and
  home bound. For over a decade, Dr. Gentry worked with numerous
  children who needed individualized tutoring, especially children
  that were impacted during Covid. Her teaching career spanned over
  68 years and touched the lives of over 2,000 children
         WHEREAS, She took great pride in her three children, Leslie,
  Bobby, and Yvonne; with the passage of time, her treasured family
  grew to include six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Celia Arellano Gentry lived a life that was rich
  in personal and professional achievements, and she will forever be
  a source of inspiration to those she leaves behind; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Dr. Celia Arellano Gentry and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
  members of her family: to her children, Leslie Whittemore, Bobby
  Gentry and Yvonne Guerra; to her grandchildren, Christina Baker,
  Katherine Whittaker, Bobby Gentry Jr., Westin Gentry, Taite Gentry,
  and Elizabeth Carrillo; and to her other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Celia
  Arellano Gentry.
