| WHEREAS, The United States of America is a world leader that | ||
| other nations look to for guidance, leadership, and example; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives believes that all | ||
| human life is precious, and the targeting of civilians, no matter | ||
| their faith or ethnicity, is a violation of international | ||
| humanitarian law; and | ||
| WHEREAS, War anywhere causes destruction and human | ||
| casualties; but the unintended consequence of the current | ||
| Israel-Hamas conflict has been the deaths of innocent civilians; | ||
| there have been reports of over 15,000 Palestinians and 1,200 | ||
| Israelis, most of whom were newborns, children, women, and the | ||
| frail and elderly, causing a humanitarian crisis of epic | ||
| proportions; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby supports the preservation | ||
| of life and encourages the United States Congress and the President | ||
| of the United States to continue to facilitate negotiations to end | ||
| the conflict between Israel and Palestine so their citizens can | ||
| live peacefully; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House forward official | ||
| copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, to | ||
| the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of | ||
| Representatives of the United States Congress, and to all the | ||
| members of the Texas delegation to congress with the request that | ||
| this resolution be entered in the Congressional Record as a | ||
| memorial to the Congress of the United States of America. | ||
