R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Cedar Hill lost an admired civic leader
  with the passing of Monica M. Kenney on November 18, 2023, at the
  age of 53; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Marshall on November 29, 1969, to Jiles
  Kenney Jr. and Laverne Kenney, Monica Kenney grew up with the
  companionship of a younger sister, Vanessa; she graduated with
  honors from Skyline High School in Dallas before attending Cedar
  Valley College; her career in banking included work at Chase Bank
  and Frost Bank, where she rose to the position of senior vice
  president of commercial lending; as one of the most prominent
  African American women in her field in the Dallas/Fort Worth
  Metroplex, she was often invited to share her knowledge and
  expertise through speaking engagements and participation on
  panels; and
         WHEREAS, Actively involved in her community, Ms. Kenney
  generously contributed to organizations such as the Best Southwest
  Partnership, Leadership Southwest, and several local chambers of
  commerce; she was a firm believer in the importance of education,
  which led to her serving the Cedar Hill Independent School District
  Education Foundation as president, as vice president of
  development, and in other roles; and
         WHEREAS, Above all else, Ms. Kenney was devoted to her three
  children, Rhyan, Christian, and Courtney, who were the light of her
  life; she also cherished her nieces, nephews, and extended family,
  and she always went above and beyond to help her loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, Although Monica Kenney is deeply missed, she will
  forever be remembered with admiration and affection by her
  treasured family and by the numerous other individuals whose lives
  she touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Monica M. Kenney and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of
  her family: to her children, Rhyan Taylor, Christian Taylor, and
  Courtney Kenney; to her mother, Laverne Kenney; to her sister,
  Vanessa Kenney, and her partner, Brianne; to her nephew/son, Justin
  Jerome Kenney; to her niece, Brianna Kenney; to her great-nephews,
  Amir Kenney, Acarion Kenney, and Justin Jerome Kenney Jr.; to her
  great-niece, Hailey LaCount; and to her other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Monica
  Kenney.
