A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the qualifications and term of the presiding officer of
  the Texas Funeral Service Commission.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 651.057(a), Occupations Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         (a)  The governor shall designate one member of the
  commission as the presiding officer of the commission to serve in
  that capacity at the pleasure of the governor [for three years. In
  designating presiding officers, the governor shall alternate
  between public and nonpublic members].
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
