A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the use of parental child safety placements.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is
  amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows:
         Sec. 264.908.  USE OF PARENTAL CHILD SAFETY PLACEMENTS. (a)  
  Notwithstanding other law, the department shall use a parental
  child safety placement in each case in which the department
  determines it is appropriate.
         (b)  If the department determines that a parental child
  safety placement is not appropriate, the department shall record in
  writing in the child's case file the reasons the department
  determined a parental child safety placement was not appropriate.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the
  last day of the legislative session.
