relating to the provision of family preservation services by the | ||
Department of Family and Protective Services to certain high-risk | ||
families. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 264, Family Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 264.2012 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 264.2012. FAMILY PRESERVATION SERVICES. In the five | ||
areas of the state that have the highest number of high-risk | ||
families determined by zip code, the department shall implement an | ||
evidence-based program that provides frequent in-home visits with | ||
families who have a history of child abuse or neglect or who display | ||
risk factors for child abuse or neglect with the goal of improving | ||
family preservation and family reunification. The program must | ||
contain guidelines for the frequency of monthly contact by the | ||
department with the family, based on the risk factors for child | ||
abuse and neglect in each case. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
