relating to required mental health, behavioral health, and | ||
substance abuse services under the Texas women's health program. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 531.0997 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 531.0997. TEXAS WOMEN'S HEALTH PROGRAM; REQUIRED | ||
SERVICES FOR MENTAL HEALTH, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE. | ||
(a) In this section, "Texas women's health program" means a program | ||
operated by the commission that is substantially similar to the | ||
demonstration project operated under former Section 32.0248, Human | ||
Resources Code, and that is intended to expand access to preventive | ||
health and family planning services for women in this state. | ||
(b) The health care services provided under the Texas | ||
women's health program must include screening and treatment for: | ||
(1) mental health conditions; | ||
(2) behavioral health conditions; and | ||
(3) substance abuse disorders. | ||
(c) The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary | ||
to implement this section. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect December 1, 2017. |
