A RESOLUTION

To designate the week of May 4, 2014, to May 10,

2014, as "Ohio Junior Chamber International Senate

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS, The "Junior Chamber" began as a group of young men	4
in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1915, then named the "Young Men's	5
Progressive Civic Association"; and	6

WHEREAS, After many Junior Chamber groups were formed	7
throughout the United States and internationally, "Junior Chamber	8
International" was formed in 1946; and	9

WHEREAS, Junior Chamber International ("JCI") is one of the	10
largest worldwide nonpolitical, nonsectarian, and nonprofit youth	11
service organizations, the purpose of which is to create positive	12
change in the world; and	13

WHEREAS, Membership in JCI groups was restricted by age, and	14
former members sought continued involvement with the organization;	15
and	16

WHEREAS, In 1952, "JCI Senate" was established to allow	17
former members to continue taking part in JCI and its activities;	18
and	19

WHEREAS, Membership in JCI Senate is awarded to former	20
members of JCI as an honor for outstanding contribution and	21
service to JCI; and	22

WHEREAS, The "Ohio JCI Senate" was formed in April 1968, and	23
allows honored members of Ohio JCI to continue participating in	24
the organization's efforts to serve the community; now therefore	25
be it	26

RESOLVED, That we, the Senate of the State of Ohio, recognize	27
the outstanding service of the Ohio JCI Senate; and be it further	28

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly	29
authenticated copies of this resolution to the news media of Ohio.	30
