A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION | To urge specific electric and gas utilities in Ohio | 1 |

to provide individualized energy usage information | 2 |

to each of its residential customers. | 3 |
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING): WHEREAS, Residential energy customers should have access to | 4 |
individualized and confidential energy usage information in order | 5 |
to realize ways to reduce their energy costs and consumption; now | 6 |
therefore be it | 7 |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly | 8 |
of the State of Ohio, urge each electric distribution utility, | 9 |
natural gas company, municipal utility, governmental aggregator, | 10 |
and cooperative in Ohio to adopt industry best practices by | 11 |
providing a report to each customer with each of the customer's | 12 |
bills that contains the following information: | 13 |
(A) How the customer's home energy usage compares to the | 14 |
energy usage of other anonymous customers in homes of similar age | 15 |
and size in the customer's neighborhood and to the energy usage of | 16 |
the most efficient of these customers; | 17 |
(B) How the customer's energy usage has changed each month | 18 |
over the previous twelve months; | 19 |
(C) Educational information on ways to reduce energy costs; | 20 |
and be it further | 21 |
RESOLVED, That electric and gas customers be provided the | 22 |
opportunity to opt-out of receiving the individualized energy | 23 |
usage and educational information report; and be it further | 24 |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly | 25 |
authenticated copies of this resolution to each electric | 26 |
distribution utility, natural gas company, municipal utility, | 27 |
governmental aggregator, and cooperative in Ohio, and to the news | 28 |
media of Ohio. | 29 |
