A BILL
To enact section 4928.661 of the Revised Code to 1
require electric distribution utilities to obtain 2
a customer's consent prior to installing a smart 3
meter on the customer's property.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 4928.661 of the Revised Code be 5
enacted to read as follows:6

       Sec. 4928.661. (A) As used in this section, "smart meter" 7
means an electricity meter that uses two-way communication to 8
collect electricity usage and related information from a customer 9
and to deliver information to a customer.10

        (B) An electric distribution utility shall obtain a 11
customer's consent prior to installing a smart meter on the 12
customer's property.13
